The Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament Facebook group continues to rapidly expand. When I blogged about it yesterday at 3:00 p.m., there were 36,000 members. By 5:00, 48,500. By 11:00 p.m., 52,000 people had joined. As of right now, membership is up to 58,630.
According to the most recent statistics, 42% of all Canadians belong to Facebook, including 30% of Canadians between the ages of 45-54. This can't be credibly dismissed as a bunch of stupid kids or some internet fad.
Operative word in the preceding sentence: credibly. Naturally Conservative parrots are dismissing the Facebook group as trivial, but that's to be expected. Nothing will sway them from their belief that Stephen Harper is always right, and everyone else is a bunch of misinformed losers. But in reality, this is a viable way for a huge segment of the Canadian citizenry to easily voice their opinions.
Canadians who do not support the Harper government are the majority. Let's keep pushing to make our voices heard.
Update. 68,300 as of 4:20 p.m.
Updater. More than 78,000 now.
