a question and two answers

Question.

Does anyone know of a way to see how many people subscribe to a feed of a particular blog?

Statcounter, Site Meter and similar sites show only actual visits - click-throughs. Readers who read a blog through a feed aggregator, and don't click through, are not recorded.

Bloglines used to have some way to see how many people subscribed to your feed, but (a) it doesn't anymore and (b) it's not a popular service these days, so it would mean very little.

Allan and I both use Statcounter, which gives you some approximation of your daily traffic, but I think most people use feeds these days. I'm just curious. Any ideas?

Answers: to my earlier questions about laptops, dryers and false bargains, on the updated post.
