what i'm watching: c.r.a.z.y.

We saw "C.R.A.Z.Y." last night, a French Canadian film that has won all kinds of awards. It was excellent.

It's a coming-of-age story, and a family story, funny, sad and profound, and somehow manages to tell an old tale in a very fresh and engaging way. If you haven't seen this, you should.

We have seen so many excellent films Quebecois. It seems like a disproportionate number of good movies come from la belle province.

I agree with you about Québec cinema, although I have yet to see C.R.A.Z.Y.

What's more, the québécois actually go and see their homegrown films in large numbers unlike anglophone Canadians. Hopefully, that will start to change.

You'll really enjoy this film.

Hey Genet, how did you get those nice accent marks in your comment? I can't seem to get them to appear correctly, hence my bad spelling in this (and other) posts.

I'm on a Mac and all I have to do is press option+e and then e (or whichever letter) to get this: é.

option + u, then letter= ü
option + i, then letter = î
option + a, then letter = å
option + `, then letter = è
option + c = ç

Hope that helps!

On my PC, I press "Alt" plus some number to get various accented letters and other symbols. Try starting at "Alt 128" and working your way through the "130's".

Thanks Genet and Ferdzy. I was unclear. I know how to type the accent marks. (I ought to - I make my living as a word-processor!) But when I use them, Blogger doesn't accept them, they show up as incoherent nonsense. I was wondering how you avoid that.

L-girl...I was able to publish the above French words using the built-in language toolbar which switches your entire keyboard to any language of your choice...that was on Windows XP (Is that what you have?) If that's the case, let me know and I'll walk you through setting it up...
