As the July 10 deadline for war resister Corey Glass's deportation nears, there will be a lot of activity on both sides of the Canada-US border. Supporters of peace, justice and personal autonomy will be raising their voices in protests and vigils in both countries.
Courage To Resist has information on July 9 vigils at Canadian consulates in San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas, New York, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Boston, Phoenix, Denver, Miami and Washington. If you live near any of these cities, I hope you'll come out.
Courage To Resist is also looking for people to help organize vigils or protests in these US cities: Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Anchorage, Houston, Raleigh, San Diego. Give them a call at 510.488.3559 if you're interested, they'll help you sort it out.
Details about US vigils are here.
US readers can also join Courage To Resist's "Dear Canada" campaign: you write a postcard, they'll do the rest.
And of course, please call the office of Citizenship and Immigration Minister Diane Finley. Urge the Government to respect democracy. The Canadian people have spoken, both on their own and through their elected representatives.
