"Make no mistake, we're at war! Now excuse me while I go off for a five-week vacation."

This will be the longest vacation in Presidential history. Bush already holds the record for most vacation days taken while in office. Apparently, he's going to reinforce his "Texas roots", which apparently you can have when you're born in Connecticut and go to Ivy League colleges.

Just how much brush does that ranch Daddy bought him have, anyway?

Oh, one other Bush vacation trivia fact: the only time that Bush has ever cut one of his vacations short was that emergency midnight session of Congress to keep Terri Schiavo on life support. Warnings that bin Laden was planning to attack the US were not enough to get him to come home early in 2001; the tsunami disaster was not enough in 2004.

He has spent a full 20% of his time in office at the pig farm.

Hard work, indeed.

Actually, considering what he's "accomplished" when he's working, the more vacation time he takes the better.

From the Lew Rockwell blog:

Bush has already spent nearly 20% of his time on vacation and takes a couple of hours off everyday to exercise. Plus he tries not to work nights or weekends.

Good for him! Imagine how screwed up the country would be if W where a 12-hour workday, nights and weekends at the office kind of guy.

I agree, the longer he is away the better

The problem is that while he's away, Cheney, Rove, & company are still on the clock.

True, but they need Bush to signoff on any decisions they make. When he's away, they can only do so much damage.

I think they need to get him out of the way so Cheney can call the shots easier.

I totally agree. I think actually mister Bush is a disaster buffer to Cheney. Just think what would happen if that bozo was in office. I think we could just enter the bunkers and wait for the big bang...

Hey, I found this website on 43 things. I live in Toronto, and I think its pretty cool that you decided to move to this city. I really hope you like it here. :)

Just wondering, when did you decide to move here and was it hard to get into Canada? I'm just curious cuz I'm seeing someone who lives in the States, and maybe one day he might move here, so I was curious as to how much work it has took you.

Again, hope you're move is good!

P.S. Sorry I don't have a blog so I'm just a random Canadian commenter. :P

Did someone forget to give Georgie the latest memo?
He always finds new ways to make himself look foolish. This time, at least, no one was injured by his out-of-control bicycle skills.

This is a little backwards. Bush is the smiley face in front of Cheney. Cheney is the man in power. Bush is a figurehead, a face for the public, because that snarly monster just won't do.

Maybe you're right L-girl, but I do think mister Bush's somewhat more moderate attitude prevents the country(or at least it's politics) from taking the one way train to BaSIN City. (Great movie!!)

This is a big question! You and your partner might want to check out this blog more fully, especially the posts on the right - timelines, research, etc. Also he or she should go to the CIC website and read up. (See "official info" link on the right).

After you guys read a lot, if you still have questions, email me, I'll be happy to help.

Thanks so much for your good wishes. Soon we'll be neighbors. :)

Hey L-Girl
ALPF

What's your take on this one...
If so many Americans (six times the normal amount) were interested in moving here after the election, why do think so few have actually taken the big step?

I can't believe it's because they are afraid of the cold!
It must be because they realized it's just not as easy as they expected it to be.

Or maybe lots of people actually love their country even though they don't like the president elected by the other half of the population.

Remember when it first started, and it was The War Against Terror? Then some bright fellow clued in and TWAT (which some felt was too truthfully self-descriptive I guess) became TWOT.

Dare I say Bush is actually perhaps cluing in a bit here (eeep!) with this one. Reaction to TGSAVE wasn't exactly positive ... many saw it as just more spin to deflect attention (you know, the usual game, where are Rove and DSM these days anyway?). Guess he listened to the complaints and stuck to his guns on the phrase everyone's got used to.

Either way, they painted themselves into a corner. TWOT isn't working for his popularity, but a proposed change in mantra did him few favors. At that point, to get rid of the new heat, TGSAVE has to be changed. Going back to TWOT, though, will do him no favors either - just stoke the image of the war-happy Prez which has his ratings at 42% and falling.

Guy should just go back to TWAT and at least be truthful in the acronym. At least they could lay claim to honesty, then.

That's exactly it. Except for those fresh out of school, you tend to stick down roots where you live. It's hard enough to move to another city in a different state/province, let alone another country.

That's something the wackos that call Laura a coward don't seem to understand. To actually pack up and move to Canada is an act of bravery, not cowardice.

Hi guys, I weighed in on this with a separate post.
