may 15 is the internaional day for conscientious objection: your help is needed

You haven't heard from the War Resisters Support Campaign for a while, partly because I was unable to attend meetings during the last school term (necessary, but very frustrating for me), and partly because the Campaign has been regrouping. But the US Iraq War resisters are still here - still living lives of uncertainty, though also filled with the joys of daily living and working. Our work continues. The Campaign's work continues. And we need your help!

Tuesday, May 15 is the International Day for Conscientious Objection. This is the day we've chosen to revitalize the impact of our campaign, and to press for the elimination of Immigration Minister Kenney's Operational Bulletin 202. This bulletin, which asks immigration officers to refer the cases of all US war resisters to their superior officers, has effectively stopped the progress of resisters to obtaining resident status in Canada, even when the courts have ruled in their favour.

We are calling on supporters of US war resisters - you and anyone you can recruit - to email Immigration Minister Jason Kenney and your MP on May 15. At this link, you can do this in one step. The email will also go the relevant Opposition Leaders and critics. (You can edit and personalize the letter if you wish.)

On May 15, we will be faxing petitions to Jason Kenney, calling on the government to rescind OB202 - and writing letters, emailing, and tweeting him. Circle the day on your calendar. Until then, please click on this link, or use the contact info below to send your own email.

Thank you for all you have done and continue to do in support of military resistance. When you support war resisters, you support peace.
