pups at play

The dogs are going wild this afternoon, tussling and tumbling all over the living and dining rooms. For a while they were chasing each other around and around the dining room table - until Buster discovered he could go under. I swear he was mugging for the camera.

It's impossible to catch this action with a camera. I'd have to post a video to really show it to you. But for what it's worth, here are my maniacs.

I'd bet the dog with the mask always wins, maybe:-)

He is the big boy, the alpha dog, that's for sure.

But it's funny, Cody has no fear of Buster whatsoever. She gets right up in his face, bites his ankles, harrasses the living daylights out of him. He tolerates her, the way older animals tolerate pups and cubs. He lets her whale on him until he's had enough, then quickly puts her in her place.

Very nice! you're right, its almost impossible to catch them at play on film. However, If I scroll up and down your post really fast I almost get the sense of action. Just need to hear the playful growls and nails clicking on the floor. :-)

Ha, that's good.

Just need to hear the playful growls and nails clicking on the floor. :-)

They were growling up a storm. Cody (the dark one) throws her head back and half-barks, half-howls.

That is awesome. Great pictures. Do you know of dooce.com? Her blog is really good, but I really get a kick out of her dog pictures.

These are some of my favs.

Ice cream mask
Ayn Rand
In the sun
Boy bands(this is the best)
Noodles
Bambi

David, those pics are a-maze-ing! My favorite is Ayn Rand. But they are all fabulous. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't heard from you lately, hope you and Noah are good.

I am just busy with work. Getting hammered by my customers. Noah's doing good. One of my roommates is out of work and stays home a lot. So Noah's got a companion all day. I think he is forgetting who pays the bills.

That's great for Noah! Maybe not so great to have an unemployed roommate, but what do dogs know about paying the rent.

You'd better make sure you feed Noah. If your roommate feeds him, he may forget about you altogether. ;-)

Well, my roommate takes him to the park and beach. When both of us are home, he is the one he follows around the house whenever he moves from his bedroom to the kitchen to the living room. Well, it's kinda cute. I am glad he has someone at home and so is my roommate.

And I take him to all those "mean" places like the vet and groomer. What is it about dogs knowing that they are about to be worked on the moment they walk into one of those places? He starts shaking visibly. Do they see it as a torture chamber and hear other dogs' screams from pain? He knows right away regardless of whether he has been there or not that it is a place where he is going to be worked on. Is that the case with the dogs you've had?

David, you are up too early!

I was having that with Cody. She is scared of everything, and I was always the Bad Mommy, giving her pills, clipping her nails, while Allan took her to the park to run and play with other dogs. I purposely tried to even things out because I felt like she didn't like me!

Is that the case with the dogs you've had?

Totally. They are very sensitive that way. I don't know how they know these things, but they always know.

The one thing that used to be easier about Buster is that our old dogwalker - who took care of him every weekend, for years and years - was our vet's assistant. That's how we met her. So a trip to the vet meant seeing his third favorite person in the world. He loved it.

Of course that was the only thing easier about Buster and now that is over!

Also that's nice your roommate likes Noah's company.

I love the ones with them posing for you and the camera. They look like people almost. I've got a photo of little max that reminds me of buster i believe. Just the way they are looking at you that does it. so cute.. :)
