tonight in toronto: "the war that still goes on"

Totally last-minute notice, but if you live in Toronto and are looking for something to do tonight, there's an interesting event that benefits the War Resisters Support Campaign.

"The War That Still Goes On" is based on Thucydides' "History of the Peloponnesian War" and Plato's "Dialogue with Alcibiades," adapted by British playright John Barton. It's being performed as a rehearsed reading, with a cast of twelve, featuring acclaimed playwright and actor Guillermo Verdecchia. It deals with the wars between ancient Athens and Sparta, with, of course, connections to more current wars.

"The War That Still Goes On" will be performed tonight only, at the Helen Gardiner Phelan Playhouse, on St. George Street at Harbord. Tickets are $20 ($10 for students), and all proceeds benefit the War Resisters Support Campaign. Allan and I will be staffing the information table in the lobby, so if you attend, be sure to introduce yourself.
