Wow, where has my head been lately. I completely forgot to note the passing of a quintessential New Yorker. The legendary cabaret performer Bobby Short died on March 20 at the age of 80. This brief obit has some good links, and this is a nice tribute, full of insider anecdotes and quotes.
I was never moved to actually see Mr Short at the Carlyle, but it was so good to know he was there.

Thanks for the links! I saw Bobby Short last year. I went with a friend who'd always wanted to see him, and I'm so glad I did. He was wonderful - such a charmer.
That is SO cool that you saw him. Come to NYC this summer! (Unless you're saving your money for Canada, then I'll meet up north.)
Oh, I wish! I don't see that happening this year. But I wil be back to NYC soon. I love that place! Maybe I will see you in Canada someday. I've only been to Vancouver, and 'd love to visit Toronto and Montreal.
Well, now you have an excuse to visit Toronto.
Cool! I'll have to see aboot making a trek up north.
