interspecies love: it's been too long

I've been stashing these in a folder, but it's been years since I've posted any! I don't know about you, but I could sure use a break.

I love them all. But my favorites are the two of the cats cuddling with the dogs. It reminded me of how my cats would do the same with Cassie. :(

Oh Cassie. :(

I am partial to the beautiful German Shepherd with the young horse -- and the lions! Imagine having lions greet you with love like a dog!

Awww, these are all so adorable!!

I do wish they'd included how exactly the orangutan communicated to his humans that he'd be interested in helping take care of the tiger cubs

You know what people always say about their dogs! "Don't be afraid, he won't hurt you." And I believe them (although such reassurances are no help to people who are already afraid!) Well, I've never met a dog I was afraid of, but there's no way on god's green earth that I would ever dare shove my face into the face of a big cat.

I may not be love's young dream anymore, but that doesn't mean I'd be okay with half my face torn off.

I assume that woman has a close and loving relationship with those lions. Pretty sure it's not random!

I'm not a cat person. I don't believe cats really do love.

John, you are so completely utterly wrong that I don't even know where to begin. You admit you are not a cat person, so I assume you've never loved a cat. I have had cats and dogs since childhood and have loved many of both, and I can tell you that a cat loves as deeply as a dog---to the extent we can assign a human emotion like love to either animal. My cats run to the door when I come home, just as a dog does. They climb into my lap wherever I am sitting, they cuddle up with me at bedtime, and they purr loudly whenever I pet them. There is nothing that a dog does to show love that a cat doesn't do. The key difference is that cats are not as obedient and malleable as a dog. So whereas a dog will come and sit with you because you call him or her, a cat won't. But the fact that cats will do that on their own is just one sign of their attachment/affection/love for the humans they have bonded with. They come because they want to, not because they are being told to.

I love dogs also---so this is not a cat v dog thing.

Hi Amy, each to his and her own, eh? No disputing taste.

I don't know what we did wrong, but my son who grew up with indoor dogs and outdoor barn cats became a huge cat-guy.

Well, at least your son has good taste! :)

I wasn't disputing your choice not to like cats---just your statement that cats aren't capable of love.
