"art is never necessary...

... it is merely indispensable."

New York Times art critic Michael Kimmelman writes about The Gates. Once upon a time, and that time is now.

Hmm... zorra? A vixen? Female fox? Is this a good thing or should I be offended?

Or maybe it's spam...

I actually like the concept of postmodern art more than I like postmodern art itself...I suppose the fact that I deemed it necessary to comment is validation in and of itself.

Steve, you know I often say the exact same thing? We'll go to some free, site-specific, public art event, and I love the whole idea of it. But about the installation itself, I often feel, eh, just there. But generally my expectations are not high, and I still enjoy it. Obviously I'm expecting to feel more strongly about The Gates. I've heard that the photos cannot convey the effect it has in person.
