nonsense

Killing time while Allan was sick in Arequipa, I made a list of the countries and US states I've been in. (If I recall correctly, David Cho once did this on his blog. He had a map you could click on to colour in the states...?)

I haven't been in many countries, although I've been in a few more than once: 11. No, 12. I forgot Bermuda.

The states was a tough one, because my family did a lot of US travel (mostly by car) when I was a kid, and I had to remember all the trips and all the routes. Total: 35.

Then I could only remember 47 states! That may sound funny, but try to list all 50 off the top of your head, without looking at a map. It's not so easy! Finally there were 49 on the list... I could see the shape of that last one in my head, but just couldn't remember what it was. Poor Oklahoma. And I grew up hearing Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals, too!

* * * *

Using the link David supplied, here are my visited US states and visited countries.

Uh..

Under an entry titled "nonsense," I see my name prominently displayed bold and highlighted. Welcome back to North America, Laura. Hope to see some pics!

Oh, sorry David!! Purely coincidental, I assure you.

Pics... eventually. I have deadlines, and a party coming up, so sorting through and posting pics is not a priority.

Didn't you have a map where you can colour in the states you've visited?

Oh yes. Here it is.

Hey, that's cool.

As to the countries you have been to, yours are almost the exact opposite to mine. I need to visit Europe and South America, and you Asia. And we both need to visit Africa!

I need to see the whole world! But first, I need to see more of my own country. We really want to travel in Canada - start colouring in the provinces.

I did one of the maps on granny a while back - USA only - didn't know about the others. I probably picked it up from David.

You missed a lot of the "reddest of the red states". Coincidence?

Absolutely coincidence. My travels in the US have been mainly to see baseball and natural beauty. I'll go wherever those are. A brief visit won't hurt.

Plus a lot of states were coloured in before I was 10 years old. :)

Hey, you're doing us proud, spelling "colour" the way you did... :)

It's almost coming naturally now... :)
