Crabletta sent me this follow-up on the Salinas libraries story. (Thank you!)
As word spread of the potential closings, donations came in from corporations, foundations and individuals, and the half-million dollar goal was met. All three libraries will be open a total of 26 hours each week until the end of the year. Not much, really, considering where taxpayer money is going. But for the people of Salinas, it's much better than nothing.
