red sox. american league pennant. happy.

The 2013 Boston Red Sox have won the American League Pennant, and the right to play the St. Louis Cardinals in the 110th 109th* Major League Baseball World Series.

This makes me incredibly happy.

1903, 1912, 1915, 1916, 1918, 2004, 2007... 2013? Seven wins down, four to go.

That is all.

* Oops, forgot about the strike year.

I keep looking at some of the highlights and smiling. My favorite is the double play Pedroia started, nailing Prince Fielder in a rundown. Grand slams are grand, but sneaky, sharp, surprising, and smart are even grander!

Double plays are one of my favourite things about baseball. My favourite is a strike-him-out-throw-him-out, but DPs of all kind are beautiful and exciting (or beautiful and annoying, if you're on the other end).

And here, DPs are alliterative, too, which makes them even better!

Can't wait til Wednesday!!

Ahh, the strike year. I prefer to think of it as "Toronto's Third Consecutive World Series Victory Except We Wuz Robbed". :-)

Canada might have had a World Series champion that season, but it wouldn't have been the Jays!

I would have been quite happy with that outcome as well!
