It's even worse than this. 2/3 of the US population has been under a "constitutional free zone" since 2006 and this is according to the ACLU. http://www.aclu.org/national-security_technology-and-liberty/are-you-living-constitution-free-zone
OK, my last comment sounded snotty, and I didn't mean to be, so let me try that again...

Yes, it is definitely much worse than what this video reveals. But the video has a very specific goal: to tell you what can and does happen when you attempt to cross the US border, and what you can do to prepare yourself for that.
I do agree with you and the ACLU about the demise of the US Constitution. It's a big part of why I left the country.
My takeaway from this? If you're gonna cross the border, have white skin and don't be a Muslim. Ahh, those good ol' American values of racism, prejudice, hate and violence. This is what Republicans mean when they speak of "traditional values," by the way.
My other takeaway is just how much protection your U.S. citizenship affords you. I know it may be tempting for some to turn in their passports, but with that passport, you have the Constitutional right to enter the country despite what the overpaid rent-a-cop in an SS uniform thinks.
I agree, M Yass. I've seen the racism at the border with my own eyes, more than once, esp. the last time I crossed. I was asked just a few questions and then that was it, BUT the black gentleman who was after me was more grilled. Unbelievable.
Your story is just incredible, L-Girl. I was having flashbacks in my mind of some old WWII movies that I've seen of Nazi checkpoints and the grilling everyone had to go through with them. Oh, and if you haven't seen this classic film, "Is Paris burning", you will see that the French Resistance are called "terrorists" 4 times by their Nazi oppressors. Sound familiar?
Thanks for sharing your story - it was one that I had missed.

Well this will probably be handy, I'm glad I didn't have any trouble going through Buffalo this morning.
Yes. Monday will be my first time through since "the incident" last November.
Good luck!
Oh good luck, hope you have a good trip this time.

Sentinelle, just in case you missed why I brought this up: last November.
