we move to canada
According to this website the date makes it the Unofficial Emergency Services Day in the UK.http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/
I have a friend who thought it was a great date to refuse something."Nein, nein, nein!!!"
Not to make you feel bad or make you go so sorry or anything like that (I'm smiling as I type!) but my mother died on 09/09/99, ten years to the day after this post.Ma never did things by halves and would be mortified, so to speak, to have died on some ordinary, blah, white bread date. Instead she hit the ninesies and no doubt is in atheist heaven this very moment guzzling a glass of her private label vodka (long story) and enjoying a Camel.
Jen: thanks!Nigel: groan!! :)John: your mom sounds very cool. I'm glad this is a day to remember her. But does she die in the future?
Aw shit--you almost-Canadians, such sticklers for the complicated and confusing world of English Prepositions! Before, after--what is the big deal way up north there!
I just remembered my ma's only baseball story. She was at Fenway with her bf of the moment the day Tony C was beaned but didn't happen to notice that event. When the pitch was delivered, she was digging in her purse for a cigarett. And when people would groan and say, 'Ma, you're supposed to watch the frippin game!' she answered, "Well, what was I supposed to do? I needed a ciggie."
