How long does a blog go unchanged before you decide, "This person's not blogging anymore"?
I'm updating my "who links to wmtc" blogroll, something I haven't done in a very long time. I'm removing blogs that no longer link to me, updating URLs that have changed, also removing blogs that have been made private. (There were a lot of those, something I found surprising.)
I have a dead blogroll category: still linking but no longer blogging. In your opinion, how long do I wait for someone to update a blog before I move them into that category?

Yeah, I know, I'm not really blogging any more. Actually, I'm working on something I plan to post in a couple of weeks.
I agree with redsock. If after that there is no action, I assume it's been abandoned. I try to be as generous as I can be with links, but once in a while I do wade through and clean them up.
James, this wasn't directed at you! Your blog is one of at least 20 or more on my blogroll that hasn't been updated in many months. A good quarter of the list, it seems.
So, what's your answer to my question?
I would check each blog & if there are no posts in the last 9 months I would remove them.

Come to think of it, a know a number of bloggers who have stopped recently for one reason or another.

Yes. Have a link to wmtc on the blog sidebar - either through a blogroll, a "following" widget, or some linky method.

Dunno. But don't unlink me! I'll be back, I'm sure. Just have to let the dust (i.e., lawsuits) settle or at least not be consumed by the chaos. Thanks!
But, to answer the question - I think the six month mark is reasonable.

Yesterday I was using a Jan 1 cut-off, but after reading these comments, I pushed it back to Sept 08. I'll check back again this Sept.

So what would that be if a person blogged every day for two weeks, then dropped off to once a week for a few weeks, then monthly for a few months.
Please show your work because the formula is confusing to me!
(Age of blog / number of posts) * 2
And if the result is less than two months, go with two months instead.
You can even plug it into Google Calculator, it does temporal math now. (Because we all know it's very important to get arbitrary mathematical formulae that some random just made up absolutely correct.)
