The Liberals accused the Conservative government on Thursday of rewarding its political supporters with federal infrastructure money, saying more than three-quarters of funding handed out since 2007 went to ridings held by Tories.
The Opposition party's analysis of the $1 billion dispensed from the Building Canada fund found 21 of 26 projects receiving money are in ridings that elected Conservative MPs, Liberal infrastructure critic Gerard Kennedy said.
Kennedy told the House of Commons during Thursday's question period that it leaves the majority of Canadians living in opposition ridings "massively shortchanged."
"Will the minister agree to stop punishing people who did not vote Conservative and to use infrastructure funds to create jobs fairly for all Canadians?" Kennedy said.
Hey Conservatives, you'd better not anger the Liberals! They might say bad things about you, then pass your budget.

Or even worse, put them on "probation" and threaten to bring down their government if they don't pass muster. Big scare, huh?
Just who would vote with the ignatieff crowd should he ask them to? I doubt if the Bloc or NDP MP's would be too amenable to propping up the libs at this point . . . .
If the Liberals can form a government after the next election, the NDP and Bloc would support them for a while. They would be expected to for a while, I think.
Or do you mean something else?
I believe LOL SOB applies.
I believe the new plan is to pass the budget as quickly as possible so we can get on with another stimulus package with more money for more causes. I tried to encapsulate budget #1 in Haiku but, as you note, the story just keeps growing ...
Oh really. I believe the Liberal Party is a bunch of unprincipled, self-absorbed professional blowhards whose only concern is what's best for the Liberal Party, and not substantially different from the Conservatives. I won't be writing any poetry about it.
"Harper is dead wrong,
Turning Canada to shit"
But Ig gives thumbs up!

I am trying to get my head around this sentence. But I can't do it. The Liberals' grand plan is to allow Harper to pass his piss-poor, no-help budget so that next time, Harper will be inclined to pass a nicer budget.
Street Vendor: That item is $10.
"Haggler": That is way too much money to spend. But I'll give you $12 for it, then tomorrow, you can sell me another one for $6. Okay?
Street Vendor: Uhhhh, yeah, sure, buddy. That's exactly what'll do.
Nice addition, Redsock. I should've added quotes around the word "plan" in my first quote to show that I'm not convinced there's a real plan in place at all. Flaherty seems like he just wants to spend as much money as fast as he can.
L-girl, I agree wholeheartedly. I have no idea what the difference is between the Liberals and the Conservatives, especially with Iggy at the helm. The poetry just helps me cope :)
Thanks, PartisanHobo. I actually thought you were defending the Liberals, so thanks for clarifying.

And a very healthy coping mechanism it is! More haiku power to you.
As advertised, here's the sequel Liberal Haiku. Back to serious blogging tomorrow :)
