wmtc wins best progressive blog in canadian blog awards
Thank you!
It was a very tight contest, without a strong turnout, so I welcome a coalition with proportional representation.
Congratulations to the second- and third-place finishers, Danielle Takacs and Dawg's Blog, and to runners-up The Galloping Beaver and Daveberta. I'm honoured to be in their company.
No coalition for Redsock, he'll be running a majority government, as Joy of Sox handily won Best Sports Blog.

Late update: My apologies to Calgary Grit! Dan Arnold's excellent blog placed fourth, and I completely forgot to include it. Sorry, Dan!

A little gravy: this is driving the trolls crazy!
Wow -- awesome! That's just great.

Oooh, are they commenting here? C'mon, give us a sample! I would very much enjoy hearing what Magnolia thinks of the award.

Unfortunately when you reject a comment, you can't copy it. Perhaps I'll put one through, copy it, then delete it. :)
I would very much enjoy hearing what Magnolia thinks of the award.
Mags says it's a travesty that an AMERICAN who writes only about AMERICAN issues could win a CANADIAN blog award, and insists I'll NEVER be CANADIAN, NEVER!!!! (All caps his, of course.)
It's an even greater travesty that my "boy toy" (!) who is an AMERICAN and writes about an AMERICAN sport could even qualify for this award.
Oh, that's awesome. But he has a point: if you look at the current first page of your blog, there are fully ONE POSTS about the USA. Clearly you just can't seem to wrap your mind around issues important to REAL CANADIANS, like the coalition, which gets a paltry SIX POSTS. For shame.
(JoS winning must have blown his tiny mind. Excellent.)
Heh. Yes indeed.
Just before Mags flipped out and revealed himself as the "man" behind several different commenter identities, "she" went on a rant about the war resisters being an American issue that had nothing to do with Canada.
I recall Kim_in_TO saying, "Earth to Magnolia, this IS a Canadian issue..." and explaining why that was so. Then Mags lost it.
Another banned commenter, of the pro-war, right-wing variety, links to me constantly, and often appears in comments where I post with bizarre anti-L-girl non sequitirs.
He likes to say, "You'd think someone who was declared the third best progressive blog in Canada, would know better..." blah blah. That was the 2007 award.
It's safe to assume this one will drive him even crazier.
I'll see if I can find an example.
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was going to post that this should make Mark 'n Mags very happy, but I see that is already the main topic of discussion!
Congratulations! And I LIKE that you do U.S. posts as well!!! :)
Here's an example.
Scroll through the comments in that thread, and ask yourself, Which of these is not like the others?
Not only does he post this, but he links to a wmtc thread from 2007! Obsessed much?
I love how no one responds, or even acknowledges his post.
Thanks, Penlan. :)
I write about whatever I want. That should be the first rule of blogging.
From the CBA rules:
All blogs written by persons living in Canada or by Canadian citizens living abroad are eligible for nomination.
The end.
Oops. Thanks, M@. Should have said that earlier. Just another rude American.
Ah, the industrious L-Girl.
That's the part that makes me laugh. Open dictionary to random page, find first adjective -- aha! Industrious! This will show her.
Excellent stuff.
Congratulations, wmtc!
I'm another Canadian who often follows and writes about American stuff, partly because on some turfs it's a kind of early-warning system for us, but then also just because I can and I want to.
Thanks for all your good work this year.

Wanna make his head truly explode?
1. Become Canadian citizen.
2. Move back to US.
3. Blog from New York City.
4. Keep winning CBA awards.
Congrats! Very much deserved!
Thank you Skdadl and Calgary Grit! Much appreciated.
Redsock, that all sounds great except for #2.
Congratulations to both of you!
Hey, congratulations!
Thanks Tom and Lisa, and Tom: congratulations!!
Congrats! You write a great blog and you deserve all the recognition you get!
Yay!
Congrats on the win!
Yay.
Excellent news! Congrats to both you and Redsock! Must be some kind on record--2 first-place prizes in the same house by different partner. Can the dogs type yet?
Good for you! I also enjoy your blog.
Thanks everyone :)

Tala often ghost-writes wmtc. She is so smart that no one has noticed yet.
Cody, on the other hand, is too lazy to blog.
Thanks and one of the biggest reasons we are celebrating a very happy one year Canadian anniversary today is because I found "We Move to Canada" in 2005.
Your blog helped change our lives for the better and I am forever grateful.

Um, actually, we were just too polite to say anything...
Tom, I think you all give me way too much credit, but just the fact that you think that at all means so much to me. Thanks for saying it.

Figures! What gave it away?

And if things had not gone so well, they'd be harrassing us night and day!
Maybe even sue us .. say, where is that other lawsuit anyway?

Those nasty USians! [Well, Emilio's not a USian, but whatever...]
Maybe even sue us .. say, where is that other lawsuit anyway?
*crickets*

Oh, you know, demographic dialect markers, subtly canine-centric word choices, typoes that are more typical of absence of opposable thumbs, the usual.
(Bow) wow! That's rough. Gives me pause.
And her word choices were somewhat squirrely.
Congratulations, Laura! Well-deserved.
Hooray! It's going to take some getting used to - this "things/people I vote for winning" thing, but I like it!
Thanks Sarah and Amy :)
In the words of John McLain - "welcome to the party pal" and way to go!!!
Thanks s1c!!
