oy.

If your blog receives a comment to the effect of "Please stop linking to my page wmtc.ca. I don't think we share the same values anymore.", please look carefully at the name.

I-girl is not L-girl, although the two look alike in Blogger's lower case view.

Check the profile. Not me.

Yes, a troll is visiting the blogs of wmtc readers, first insulting me, and now attempting to impersonate me.

I didn't want to give him this attention, but several blog-friends have been confused, so here we are.

You may also see posts by "Magnolia_2000", one of his many personas. Mags sends comments to both wmtc and Joy of Sox on a regular basis, despite the fact that his posts never show up. We see his name and click "reject" without reading the comments.

This is one troubled boy!

L-Girl (not i-Girl!):

Thanks for the personal, and now public clarification on the troll.

Sorry he has targeted you and Allan, but that must mean you both are "the cool kids"!

Cheers from Vancouver . . . .

Oh good grief.

I second on the "cool kids" though... ;)

Magnolia's a boy? Interesting. You don't see many men named after flowers.

Magnolia commented on my blog saying that I ought to know what L-girl was saying about me here.

WHAT ARE YOU SAYING??!?

I DEMAND TO KNOW!!1!!!11!

That's narsty.

Funny -- there was a vicious troll who started turning up on babble way back in 2001, called himself Archimedes2000 in his first incarnation, turned out to be an American neo-Nazi. Charming fellow -- not. Many of us got good at recognizing his reincarnations after a post or two (partly because he favoured the names of serial murderers as handles). He knows his way around the Canadian 'sphere as well.

Probably not him, but they are all such a bore, especially when they start targeting your readers.

He's also posting under "redsock.", the clever boy. Note the dot after the k.

M@, you blew it by spelling everything in those two sentences correctly. Now if you had said "I deamand to no!!1!", I might have told you something.

Probably not him

You never know! This dude is definitely Canadian.

but they are all such a bore, especially when they start targeting your readers.

I know! I hate to give him this much attention. But OTOH, it's good for the community to come together to laugh (and pity) this poor slob.

Hey L, this person has been posting on my blog too, he/she is creepy.

Yes, I just posted about this, not yet having seen your post. Glad to see you're aware of it.

I just wish these morons would actually have blogs of their own, available profiles, whatever. It's bad enough, but then to do so anonymously. Poor, pathetic soul...

But then we'd know who they were, and they'd be mortified by their ridiculous behaviour.

This adult male has also posted on L's blog under about 4-5 other names in the past before exposing himself.

Though if he posts nice things, he may get a chuckle from being secret, but then he's not trolling, so who cares? He has also had a persona or three at my blog.

L: How long as this been going on? A year or more, right?

Some of his posts are long, too. And they come at all hours of the day and night. And now he is visiting the blogs of commenters at both our blogs and leaving comments there. We must really be intertube bigshots to garner all this special attention!!!

But it's a shame he's such a coward that he has to hide his profile. No doubt there are teams of psychiatrists around the world who would drop everything for a chance to study this tool.

I don't remember how long it's been going on for. But he posed as an admiring female reader *for weeks* before flipping out and revealing himself as the same troll of the other names.

Can you imagine going to all that trouble - creating a persona, posting as that person several times a day for weeks - just to... what? I'm not sure what the intention is. To put something over on the blog owner?

I wish I understood the mentality. Or how anyone has that much free time!

Some years ago, I volunteered on a suicide/crisis line. Guys (and they were almost always guys) like this called all the time. Their obsessions tended to be sexual instead of political, but what everyone is describing shows a similar pattern. I think it was Redsock's choice of terminology, i.e. "exposing himself", that made me think of this. :-)

Are you saying that mags wants to have sex with L and/or I? Or that perhaps he has a small wee-wee?

I was wondering how some people find the time for this nonsense. Then I remembered that junior high schools are out for the summer.

I, too, got an email from "redsock." His lack of wit and intelligence gave him away immediately.

On one level, I think it's important to call people out, but I also don't want to give them the opportunity to wallow in the reactions to their slithery lameness.

For me, it was just a momentary nuisance. I feel for the rest of you.

Right - that's always the conflict.

So far it's i-girl, redsock. (note the ending dot), Magnolia_2000, Sanity & Reason, keith, barbara... and a whole bunch of others.

Astonishing, isn't it?

You could write an interesting case report for a Mental Health journal on "Manifestations of ___ in cyberspace". Now only if we knew his diagnosis...

Oh, really. I'm sure he hasn't reached mine yet, but then again I'm way down the alphabet there. I think his brain would explode.
