the most beautiful jewelry in the world

Today is Opening Day at Fenway Park, and the Boston Red Sox will receive their 2007 championship rings.

I am happy!

World Series of what?

Of the greatest game ever invented, of course.

. . greatest game ever invented.

I didn't know you had outdoor curling in Fenway Park particularly in this weather

Yeah yeah yeah.

Will someone please ask "Why do they call it the World Series, if it's two teams from the US..."? Because I haven't heard that one in a minute and a half.

Yeah yeah yeah.

On that note, is it time to predict doom and gloom for the Sox yet, seeing as they're in last place (!!1!) in the AL East?

(Seriously -- hope you guys having a good year again this year!)

I'm excited for the Tigers this year.
Mostly for my mom the jolly Tiger fan.

Out of the cellar, baby!!! We're in third now!!!

I fear Mother Patel isn't quite so jolly right now. (The Tigers have lost all 7 of their games.)

Ooh! Ooh! When are Canada's qualifiers? I'd love to go watch them.

GO SOX! What a great day it was today at Fenway. Wish I had been there (but we WILL be there on Friday!).

So what happened to them last weekend? Jet lag?

I feel another winning season coming for the Jays...

L-girl said...

What happened to them? Baseball happened. Even the best team in the majors will lose one-third of their games every season.

The Royals swept the Tigers last week. On any given day, any team can beat any other team. That's part of the beauty of the game.

I feel another winning season coming for the Jays...

Another...? And when would that one have been?

Unless you mean finishing over .500. They're almost sure to do that.

We had some gloom-and-doomers during Spring Training!

Thanks for the good wishes, we are very psyched.

And good luck to the Tiger-loving Patels, too. Maybe we will meet in the ALCS.

Well, 1993 actually. If you ignore 1995 through 2007, they could be back-to-back-to-back champions!

Uh, sure. I know about 92 and 93, of course. Consecutive wins are an incredibly impressive achievement. I wouldn't look for the Jays in the playoffs this year, though. If they played in another division, maybe, but that's not their fate.

L-girl, your problem is that you're a reality-based blogger. Reality has a well-known Red Sox bias. Please quit messing up my fantasy with your facts.

That's some good stuff right there.

By the way, about this:

Ooh! Ooh! When are Canada's qualifiers? I'd love to go watch them.

Do you mean, Scott, that you didn't watch the olympic qualifying tournament, which Canada won back in March? I know it's not exactly MLB, but it should fit the bill, based on what you're saying. It was pretty interesting to watch.

(The tournament was before I decided to boycott watching the olympics myself. It'll be difficult -- I'm an avid watcher of any international sports -- but absolutely necessary this year. Damn you, IOC!)

Actually, I was talking about the qualifications for the World Series. Maybe I can see a game in France when I'm there!

Nice try. Those are called playoffs. :)

Ohhh. I thought you were talking about international baseball, not in a professional tournament with a perfectly valid name given its historic context. My mistake.

Heh. Very good.

I've got a few good comebacks, but hey, I've had my fun. :)

They were good? Are you sure?
