Look what else Greg Mitchell brings us! A clip of Leonard Cohen performing with Sonny Rollins, doing Cohen's "Who By Fire". This is beautiful, bluesy stuff. Rollins just gives me chills.
Thanks to Mitchell, from his blog Pressing Issues.
If Leonard Cohen appears in this blog, should it automatically get tagged "Canadian culture"?

Very cool stuff. How old do you think this clip is? I had not heard this Leonard Cohen song before, but it sounds like the prayer said on the high holidays which also asks who will die and how.
Did you know that Cohen's song "Hallelujah" has had a new surge in popularity after being sung on American Idol? (I do watch too much dumb tv.)
I don't know how old it is, good question. Sonny Rollins is completely white-haired now, so unless he went through a period of dyeing his hair, this clip is quite old.
I think the song is related to that prayer.

Uh, no. I have never seen one milisecond of American Idol. (Or Canadian Idol.)
Some time ago, I was surprised to meet a young African American woman who knew Joni Mitchell through the Janet Jackson song that sampled Big Yellow Taxi. Great how that works.

You would have really hated it this week since they did all Beatles songs. :)
Tell Allan that is what I do when I am not reading and commenting on blogs....
A commenter at YouTube says 1989.
Thanks for that. I dislike your new avatar.
Thanks for that! It was from a 1989 TV show hosted by David Sandborn called "Sunday Night"... I've been looking for a copy for almost 20 years.
Sonny and Leo in their prime!!!
