One other thing about the Canadian health care system: because the system is not profit driven, there are (at least I think) more efforts made at preventative medicine.

IIRC, Ontario was the first jurisdiction to offer free flu shots for everyone, because the cost of the free flu shots were cheaper than the cost of caring for those who came down with the flu. In a for profit system, there would be no incentive to do this.

That's absolutely true. Public health information is so much more accessible, and preventative care is encouraged. I have numerous examples. Which reminds me of a post...
