Be warned that much of XKCD is pure math geek humour. :)
I've been clicking randomly, and there are plenty of posts I don't understand! But many that I do understand, I love. Some are more poignant than funny, which I like. This person is a quite a talent.
Rest assured that the obscure science geek ones are just as brilliant, if you have the background for them. XKCD is hugely respected in the online science community because smart science humour is rather rare. It's hard to do well.
He's very good at poignant... One of my favourites, which appeals to socially inept geeks everywhere, says:
cos({heart}) = ??? -- My usual approach doesn't work here...

I love this one, too. I really relate.
By the way, if you mouse over the cartoons, there's always an extra punchline in the pop-up tooltip.
