vermont town calls for indictment and arrest of white house war criminals

In the town of Brattleboro, Vermont, this petition received enough votes to advance to a town-wide vote on March 4.
Shall the Selectboard instruct the Town Attorney to draft indictments against President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against our Constitution, and publish said indictments for consideration by other authorities and shall it be the law of the Town of Brattleboro that the Brattleboro Police, pursuant to the above-mentioned indictments, arrest and detain George Bush and Richard Cheney in Brattleboro if they are not duly impeached, and prosecute or extradite them to other authorities that may reasonably contend to prosecute them?

The town's website has been besieged by wingnuts, so if you'd like to post a message of support, go here and click on "Your Comments".

The petition has no legal standing, of course. It's just a great idea.

And while we're in the nation of my birth, I'll break my self-imposed silence on the electoral goings-on to offer four words on Rudy Giuliani: I TOLD YOU SO!!

Apparently many people thought this man was really going to run for President of the United States! What a hoot.

New Yorkers know what Rudy is all about. You know, the people who actually lived through "America's mayor" [insert gagging noise here] as mayor? And yeah, the Republicans are going to nominate a pro-choice, Catholic, serial adulterer with two gay best friends. Sadly for us all, Republicans are not that stupid.

And now back to my boycott of the circus.

My comment, from yesterday:

I was born in Burlington 44 years ago and raised in Essex Junction. I currently live outside Toronto.

Bravo for your brave and moral stand against the cabal of war criminals currently living in the White House, who are gleefully running the US into the ground while stuffing millions into their own pockets with blood-stained hands.

As far as the hate mail, it's obviously just a few freepers (60 emails??) with nothing better to do when Rush is off the air. Bush's shitty poll numbers (which are likely inflated anyway) are enough to prove he has precious little support throughout the country. In short, fuck 'em.

KEEP IT UP!!!!

There is now a National petition everyone should sign in support of the Brattleboro movement.

Bush and Cheney have done more harm to the US and it's economy then they have against Iraq.

re Rudy: You forgot to mention "cross-dressing." 'publicans don't like that too much, either. It's a shame, he could've been our first woman president. Who will Johnny Damon vote for now?!

Good for Brattleboro! We pass there often on our way to ski, but never knew it was much more than a sleepy old town. Vermont is definitely an interesting place in so many ways. Too bad the rest of the country isn't more like Vermont.

Rudy---duh...never thought he'd make it once the counry got to know him.

You forgot to mention that he's also a transvestite. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it's yet another reason why the Christian fascists aren't going to let him anywhere near the White House.

I know, I saw that right after I posted.

OT, but just an observation since you mentioned his post. He has a picture of Mother Teresa there. She was not the great humanitarian she's always made out to be. The truth is, she was a fanatic anti-choicer. At her acceptance speech for the Nobel Peace Prize, she said that abortion was the greatest threat to world peace.

She also had a real sadist's streak. Her homes for the dying were little more than human warehouses. People in cancer-type pain were left to suffer miserably and die with no medical care and no analgesics stronger than Tylenol. And all of the money she received in donations ostensibly for a teaching hospital went straight to the Vatican Bank.

Sorry, just a digression. We now return you to your regularly scheduled blog. ;)

Uh yeah, I'm aware of Mother Theresa's many issues. I'm not a fan.

You all realize the reason I have a picture of Mother Teresa is because she's GIVING THE SATAN SIGN, right?

That's the joke. I hate religion, and I don't know shit about Mother Teresa, except that once my band was playing a show, and our guitarist said to the crowd "How do you get Mother Teresa pregnant? You fuck her!"

I knew that. But I thought I'd let you announce it yourself. :)

Thanks.

OMG, that's just WRONG!!!

I mean, the woman is CLEARLY post-menopausal, so she won't get pregnant no matter how much you fuck her!

It would take a miracle, but then again...
