Zimmerman is an LA native, and I think he lives in San Francisco now. He used to be the lead singer of the Foremen in the 1990s--they were GREAT. And Zimmerman's solo stuff is missing the gorgeous harmonies, but it's still just as funny.
I wouldn't say "achieve perfection", myself, though I thought it was fun that someone who I only know through science geek circles (Zimmerman is very popular among the science blog types -- I found this video on Pharyngula) also has Joni Mitchell as a fan.
He does have a nice Tom Lehrer feel to his lyrics, though. :)

I noticed this on Roy's site:
"Roy's lyrics move beyond poetry and achieve perfection." -- Joni Mitchell

Uh, ok.
But what a blurb.
I saw that too. (Fellow Canadian?)
what a blurb.
But what if it was:
"WHAT?!?!? You want me to say that Roy's lyrics move beyond poetry and achieve perfection? Are you nuts?"

I don't think Zimmerman is Canadian. Fellow Californian, I think.
But what if it was:

The old ellipsis pullquote.
"funniest... show... on Broadway!"

"You call this a comedy? The funniest thing about this show is how it ever got produced on Broadway!"
