new look update

Folks who were finding the all lower case text difficult to read should be happier now. I've got my template in all lower case, the way I like it, and you've got the content and comments in normal sentence case, the way you like it.

I fixed the spacing issue on the sidebar - myself! That was fun.

I also fixed the spacing issue that partially hid the post date with an arrow.

The banner is a link to the main page in Firefox, but not in Internet Explorer. Designer Guy is still working on that. Meanwhile I made a stupid link in the sidebar as a workaround.

I'm almost there.

Yea for the sentance case! It was getting hard to read.

Yippee!

I'm glad it makes you happy. :)

Quite a few people found it difficult to read. I had to go with the readership on that one.

What a lot of work -- but I'd say it's paid off. Great stuff!

Thanks! Not nearly as much work as the time I had to re-post every photo on the entire blog (argh!). Categorizing everything was a major job, too, but I really wanted to do that.

So these little tweaks don't seem very time consuming, relatively.

Wow. I had just assumed the all lower case was part of the tribute to your friend who died--I noticed it on that post, and then I guess I haven't been back here since, so I had thought you purposely typed that ONE post like that, for a kind of simple, somber-but-okay tone.

I guess I can't compliment you for that great "idea," then. Anyway, I guess it was kind of a sign or something. I hope at least one other person thought what I did and can relate to this.

This reminds me--my first trip to then Skydome, my longtime friend had just died, and I heard about it that morning. So I got to the park (I was by myself as another friend backed out on the trip last minute) and was sitting outside, hours before gates opening. Naturally, I was thinking of my late friend, and I tried to communicate with him in my head, asking him for a sign. Immediately a truck went by with one of our old neighbor's names on it who we constantly used to talk about. I thought it was pretty cool, if only a cosmic coincidence.

Must be something about that greater Toronto metropolitan area air...

Jere, that's really cool. Cosmic coincidences are the best kind.

I'm sorry about your friend.

Is there a way to have, on the main page, when the last comment was made on a post and by who? That way one could quickly scan down the page and see if there's any new comments (without having to remember "There were 16 comments on that one, 5 comments on that one I think... or were there four?"

Blogger might have a widget for that, I'm not sure.

But I don't care for that on other people's blogs, so I don't think I would add it. Sorry.

Sentences starting with capital letters. Thank you!!

(In the post titles and the rest of the template, it's fine--if that's your cup of tea.)

Heh. You're welcome. Thanks for the chuckle.

This is very late, I know. But I think the new look is great. And I add my name to the "thank you" list for the change in policy regarding upper/lower case. I wasn't going to say anything because it's your blog and my choice to read it, but I did find the only-lower-case made it difficult for me to read. (And if I haven't said so already, I think it's a great blog and the community that has grown around it is amazing.)

Thank you, Daniel! And you're welcome. I'm glad the changes worked out for you.
