wordpress

WordPress looks very cool. I am definitely switching.

I can't do it right away, since their importing tools need to catch up with New Blogger. Ironically, if I had never switched to New Blogger - which sucks for me - I could have changed over to WordPress right away. But then, if I had never "upgraded" (ha!), I wouldn't have been so frustrated and looking to get out of Blogger in the first place. But as soon as WordPress can accommodate New Blogger blogs, I'm outta here.

The amazing thing (to me) is that all the new features that Blogger is crowing about have been available on WordPress all along. The drop-and-drag dynamic template, publishing on the fly, categories, improved archiving - all of it - has all been on WordPress, there for the taking. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't realize this sooner. My host, Laughing Squid, prefers WordPress, and I should have realized there was good reason for it.

I'm beyond sick of looking at this template, which I've used since I started blogging in July 2004, but I'm going to wait and revamp all at once. If Talented Designer Guy doesn't come through soon, I'll use one of WordPress's many lovely themes and do a little customizing myself.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to be patient.

You are leaving us...?

Would you have found me had we not been both blogger users?

I looked at Wordpress, and decided not to use it for a very simple reason. My ex-coworkers were blogging, and I guess I just wanted to use what they were using.

Leaving you? No! You'll be able to find me at this very same address.

I link to many bloggers who use WordPress, TypePad, and other platforms. It doesn't matter.

As for how you found me, I don't know how you did that. Was it blogger-related?

Actually you found me.

Reading your comment, I thought you were saying that ***I***, not Noah was "extremely cute." LOL.

As to migrating to Word Press, when they say it isn't compatible with the new version of blogger, it just may mean that things like categories don't transfer over.

I would just open up a dummy Wordpress account and do a test run and see how it goes. Or run a test against your real WordPress account and if things don't look right, then start over.

Yes, I thought "Prof Nachos" was the dog! :)

But how did I find your blog to leave that comment? I thought you posted on my blog, and I went over to your place to check it out. No?

They're not saying it's not compatible, just that they need to fine-tune their importing tool now that Blogger is out of beta and has settled down for a while. I can wait.

I did set up a dummy WordPress account, that's how I saw all their nice features. But I can't do a test run - either I import wmtc or I don't.

Plus, I have to redirect (or whatever it's called) my domain name. So I'll wait.

Anyway, it would be nice if I helped pack and unpack, not just played with my blog. :)
