I agree with John Tierney! Let's hope it's the only time this year.
Tierney is a conservative columnist for the New York Times. Suffice to say there are no quotes from him on my bulletin board. But today, he writes, "If you love cities, this is a week to rejoice. Now that the stadium planned for New York's West Side is dead, no one can fantasize anymore about the Olympics coming to New York."
In his very good column about what New York does and doesn't need, Tierney even mentions the ziggurat of Ur, the Parthenon and the Circus Maximus. Perhaps that's why he makes so much sense. I'm finding the ancient world very enlightening, too.
Ding, dong, the stadium's dead. It's so exciting.
